As a freelance graphic designer, I tend to do most of my work on the computer using specialist software. However, on some occasions, I prefer to plan and draw using paper and art materials. My go-to places to purchase art supplies are usually The Range, Hobbycraft and Paperchase. These stores tend to have a great range of products which last a while and are of superior quality.
Recently, I shifted a few of my old items and rearranged my home office. So I was left with a lack of supplies for my hand drawn graphic designs. However, I was in for a surprise when Hobbycraft sent me a Mixed Media Art Set complete with 126 pieces of art materials!
The first thing which stood out to me was the sturdy case in which all the supplies were stored safely. This was one way to ensure I don’t keep things laying around and lose them! I also appreciated the extra equipment included in this kit. Things such as the palettes, sharpener and a range of synthetic brushes are very useful but often forgotten. The handy booklet was great to flick through as well, and I’ll definitely be using it when I run out of inspiration!
I think this art set is well worth the £35.00 it retails for. My fellow creatives will know that shopping for art supplies usually adds up to a lot! I’m looking forward to getting many uses out of this kit in the coming years, because I know it’ll last me a long time.
Until next time.
