I started playing Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 ever since I can remember. I am still awaiting the third game in the series (which I don’t think is going to be released any time soon). Since I’ve enjoyed playing both these games multiple times, I decided to write a comparison between the two. Both games have the same plot where a group of survivors are fighting zombies in a post-apocalyptic world. However, there are some differences which set them apart from each other.
Left 4 Dead introduces four original characters to the game. It impresses with its gory animations and eerie atmosphere. The bots behave in a more helpful manner and have better dialogues as opposed to those in Left 4 Dead 2. However, some of the maps are quite dark to play through and it’s quite a dated game. The lobbies are also mainly empty as no-one actually plays the game anymore. But, this also makes it cheaper to purchase than Left 4 Dead 2.
On the other hand, Left 4 Dead 2 introduces four new characters to the game. It comes with even more advanced game maps, fresh new weapons and special infected zombies. Left 4 Dead maps can also be played in Left 4 Dead 2. However, Left 4 Dead 2 has its downsides; bots respond much more slower than the first game, which can sometimes lead to unexpected casualties. Also, as the game is the latest one in the series, it is much more costly than the first one, which is something to consider.
Despite both games having their respective disadvantages, I still wholeheartedly enjoy playing them in my spare time.
Until next time.
