An Easy 5-Step Skincare Routine For Men

[AD] This post is for a paid partnership.

Let’s get real, us men don’t tend to look after our skin are much as our female counterparts because, well, it doesn’t seem to be worth the hassle, right? WRONG! Looking after your skin, especially your facial skin, should be in your list of priorities because it can prevent dryness, irritation and the development of acne caused by the continual exposure of chemicals and fumes we are bombarded with in everyday life. It’s also a pretty brilliant way to wind down and relax after a long week of hard work and aids with boosting your wellbeing! There are many facial skincare products on the market nowadays, with Korean skincare taking the beauty world by storm recently. It can be a quite nerve-wracking experience figuring out which products to purchase and whether the ingredients will be suitable for your skin type. But, don’t worry, I’ve got you covered with this super simply skincare routine:

Cleanser

Start off with a cleanser in order to remove dirt from your skin and unclog the pores from dead skin cells and oil. This liquid substance is particularly useful to prevent a build up of harmful substances which can lead to a breakout. Simply apply a small amount (a blob as big as a cherry tomato will do!) onto your face and gently use with circular motions.

Scrub

Now that your face is squeaky clean, you can move onto exfoliation with a face scrub. Facial scrubs on the market exist to tackle various issues, so you’ll need to decide what you require. A pea-sized amount should be applied to your face and gently rubbed into your skin using circular motions to thoroughly polish your skin.

Toner

Now that your pores have been unclogged and your skin has been deeply cleaned, it’s time to close those pores back up, so that dirt doesn’t enter them again. A teaspoon of toner on a cotton pad should be applied to your skin in order to shrink the pores and balance the PH. It also provides that much needed moisture for extra thirsty skin and leaves it feeling refreshed and firm.

Moisturiser

After toning your skin, the next step is to apply a moisturising cream in order to attract moisture and protect the skin by forming a barrier that holds in the moisture which is already there. It also locks in all the goodness acquired from the previous steps, so your skin is left feeling soft and supple.

SPF Lotion

Whether you live in the sunny temperatures of Dubai or the dreary showers of the UK, using a SPF lotion should be a part of your skincare routine. An SPF lotion contains a sun protecting factor which is useful to protect your skin from the harsh exposures of UV light and to minimise the damage caused by this, such as premature ageing and hyper pigmentation. It is also crucial to prevent the risk of getting skin cancer. A small blob (the size of a cherry tomato) should be applied to your skin and rubbed in so you can no longer see the product.

So, to conclude, men should totally up their skincare regime (honestly, that one product won’t work for everything…) Not only will it leave you feeling super refreshed, but it’s also got some great long term advantages to.

Until next time.
