With the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, many of us have become accustomed to the idea of staying in our pyjamas all day whilst lounging around and comfort eating, especially with gyms and activity centres being temporarily closed – it’s no wonder why so many of us are complaining about putting on a little bit of weight during lockdown! Well, that bit of weight can gradually increase causing many health problems, so it’s best to tackle it before it gets out of hand! Here are three simple ways you can improve your fitness levels from home:
Be sure to exercise daily to keep your body in shape; whether it’s taking a jog around your local block (taking into account social distancing measures) or dancing to your favourite beats in your living room! Daily physical exercise helps improve muscle strength and endurance as well as boosting blood circulation. With Covid-19 predominantly affecting the lungs, it’s important to ensure that your breathing muscles can operate to their full capacity, specifically those suffering from health conditions revolving around their lungs. Put away gadgets, such as your laptop or smart phone, approximately one hour before bed time and consider having a hot shower to relax yourself both mentally and physically. Also, try lavender oil on your pillow and brew a herbal tea, such as chamomile, in order to calm your senses.
Whilst there are many other ways to improve your fitness levels, these are the three fundamental ways to get started on your fitness journey, whether you’d describe yourself as a couch potato or fitness enthusiast.
